Jose Calderon

President

​Jose Zapata Calderon is the President of the Latino and Latina Roundtable of the San Gabriel and Pomona Valley and Emeritus Professor in Sociology and Chicano/a Latino/a Studies at Pitzer College.  

As the son of immigrant farm workers from Mexico, he has had a long history of connecting his organizing and academic work with community-based teaching, participatory action research, critical pedagogy, and engagement. 

Angela Sambrano

Vice President

Angela Sambrano is the Vice President of the Latino and Latina Roundtable Executive Board.

Lidia Manzanares

Treasurer

Lidia grew up in a variety of neighborhoods throughout the City of Los Angeles and moved to Pomona 10 years ago. For the past 15 years, she has worked in municipal government in various roles from external relations focused on community outreach and organizing to management roles that focus on innovation, budget and workforce development. She is a product of public education from LAUSD, to the Community College District and Cal State Northridge. She is Community Life Commissioner for the City of Pomona and Co-Chair of the HEAL (Healthy Eating Active Living) Working Group in the Healthy in Pomona Initiative of Pomona's Promise. She is the mother of two teenage sons.

Alicia Rodriguez

Secretary

Alicia is an Executive Board Member of the Latino(a) Roundtable and  part of the SG/IE Labor Council for Latin American Advancement, Financially Fit Foundation.   


She considers her hometown to be Manzanillo, Colima and is currently residing in San Dimas

David Estrada

David Estrada has been a proud union member, labor leader, and mental health advocate for

the past 49 years. 

David was born in Boyle Heights L.A., and raised in Monterey Park, CA. He has been married to

his lovely wife Rose, a retired educator, for 49 years. They have lived in the city of San Dimas,

CA for the past 44 years.

In January of 2023 David was appointed to the Board of Directors of the Latino and Latina Roundtable.

Maria Galvan

After raising her children, Maria  decided to go back to school, and is now a student at Mt San Antonio College. 

"I would like to see that  all k-12 students learn their rights to be involved in a democracy. It is my pleasure to be working with the Latino/a Roundtable of the SGV/PV in improving communities."
